I did see an accident with ambulances, etc. on Marine Drive, just before the N1 on-ramp. There was a guy lying on the road in front of a taxi.

I didn’t see any bicycle though. I hope he wasn’t a cyclist, because he should not be riding on that road anyway.

Yea thats the one. My boss said was a cyclist. I agree he should not be on that part but in terms of safety riding that early in the mornings its about as safe as riding on the cycle lane alone. its a chance u have to take.

Hope the guy is ok

Saw a cyclist on the N1 yesterday just before that turn-off. He had a bright vest thing on, no helmet. Just someone trying to get to work. Cops drove straight past him so he would assume its legal.

Will mail hairy now but he is a woos and wouldnt ride in this weather.

I got knocked down on Tuesday afternoon while cycling in a cycling lane along Frans Conradie Brackenfell, so you are not even safe in a cycling lane hey.

ANY NEWS on the Cyclist?

I went in to Town @ 10h00, so I did not see anything.

Weather??? Who is

complaining about OUR lovely Winter?

Before anybody starts SAYING where bicycles CAN and SHOULD be ridden, there is NO law stipulating such.

Hope the cyclist is ok and that his recovery is speedy!!

Right that said let me now don my flame suit.

There is a dedicate cycling path in that area, not a painted line,a dedicated path.As for the safety issue on the cycling path well I will take a mugger any day over a car or taxi hitting me??

Every morning I travel that road and there are always cyclists,if you all used the cycle path well then there would be safety in numbers. There is no law against riding on the road just as there is no law forcing us to wear gloves but we do to protect our hands.Us cyclists have just as much right to be on the road but why can we not be the bigger person and take the safer route??

"ANTI HIJACK"

When there is more than 50% LANES on my Route, then it will make a difference. Now there is a 5km Max Bicycle Lane on my Route, where I am cycling 40km one way/ 80km daily. Why must we cyclists avoid Motorists? Motorists need to STOP driving like TJOPS!

This Tuesday past I had to be @ Work for TWO hours, then back home to return Late afternoon. 140km for the day.

IF it may make anyone happy to know, when cycling Home @ 01hoo I use the Bicycle Lane for the 5km on my Route.

"HI JACK" off

If you want to take on a car while riding a bike, go ahead. I won't take that chance. It's true that some motorists are inconsiderate, but if you decide to challenge the cars you'll come off second best. Fact of the matter is they're a lot bigger than us. They can do way more damage to us than we can do to them.
