sorry, one more thing. What about bringing the bike back - is it easy enough to repack the bike yourself?

Yeah. I'll be honest tho. He did a faaar better job than I did. lol. When I unpacked in France I just kept everything in the box and tried to emulate what he had done. I bought packing tape in France and just repacked as best i could. I put my whole box in a huge plastic bag on the way there. Those guys that wrap bags did it. That was a bit of a waste.

I also bought packing tape here and did a whole lot of my own reinforcing once I got the box from him. I'm a little paranoid about my bike and airport baggage handlers. All in all it worked out fine. The guys that took bespoke bike boxes had to pay excess baggage fee's cos those bike boxes are ridiculously heavy.

The shop's name is Speedy Cycles in Wynberg. 021 797 5674. Ask to speak to Kurt. He did an amazing job with my bike last year and I'll be using him again this year.

Are they still in that old vrot shop on the Main Road?

They must be the oldest bike shop in RSA

I spent hours as a kid drooling over bikes in the window

On an AM bike I'd go for M4's. I've got V2's cos my focus is on DH. The lever is exactly the same and the only diff is the caliper. Also to make full use of the V2's you need to run the V2 rotors which are heavy.

As Far as Hope brakes in general.

Very rarely nowadays do you get a product that have a bespoke look and feel. My hopes have that look and feel. They are amazing. They look great and the power from the brakes is amazing. The whole "hopes are like light switches bru" talk is a load of bollocks. Yes they take a bit of getting used to but the modulation is just fine. The Avid codes I had on previously also felt on/off until i took the time to get used to them.

Oh. and prepare for your friends to be green with jealous rage.

Ty for the help Omega. My eye was leaning towards the m4, thought maybe it was the more DH model on its beefy looks and the x2 / v2 more xc/am.

Hope Tech V2 Weight: from 546g

Hope Tech X2 Weight: from 340g

Hope Tech M4 Weight: from 400g

After reading your post i went and checked the weights...

Ty for the speedy help OMega made my decision easy , can now maybe order tomorrow together with a workstand , should make the free shipping. Now to maybe squeeze more for LTD set , seen as my bling green already

:EDIt- So the x2's would be the xc'ish ones?
