The BIG question I have for the Admin / Hubbers / Judges?

I tried the same Marketting ploy and got Flamed for not using a Paid Advert through Advertising.

Which I did as when Finances would allow.

I am still going to try the product for my own Enquiries.

@Cytomax,

We actually pay heavily in advertising, we are in monthly publications, Modern Athlete, Triathlon Plus, Sports Guide, Runners World and during season transition, Bicycling and Ride, we are only on the forum to answer questions for people, in all honesty we could sit back and not respond. Its not the way we work, we want to be involved with the users, good or bad feedback, we will continue to support and assist athletes across all spectrum's where we can. We believe in promoting health, thats our stance, there is not one "SAFE" energy drink out there for the youth, and its a pity.

The Questions was, Are you paying for any Advertising on the Hub?

You are not just commenting about a product, You are advertising for your gain. At Who's expence.

The Hub just had an IT problem and they are changing their Server.

At Who' Expence?

Hi John,

There are a lot of people advertising and selling product on here, this started off as a debate around low vs high GI and asking people if they had tried the product. If the hub wants to shut this thread down because we are not paying for advertising thats their decision, but we are then there are a lot of other threads that would be shut down as well, not just this one. If you want to come down on me for trying to answer questions thats fine, but why single me out? over any of the other threads out there? and there are many.

If you look at the threads it has not just been about 32Gi, there have been a lot of debate around nutrition, pre during and post racing, I even advocated Hammer spectrum electrolyte tablets to one hubber, and a lot of products have been mentioned in this thread or in PM's I am trying to understand, is the forum not for sharing, promoting etc. This forum is called Rant n Rave, people can decide either to read a thread or not, its entirely up to them.

Just some hydration advice, I dont drink when I am thirsty, by then its too late, you need to pre-empt that thirst feeling. I know my body well and will take in a certain amount of liquid every 15 minnutes or so, depending on the temperature, but I never get to the thirsty stage, you should try and find a balance where you take in enough never to feel thirsty ;-) just a handy tip. Thirst is the sign your body is in need of liquid but while exercising you are already getting rid of it, so at that stage you will need to take in most likely more than you think. The majority of athletes actually finish events sligtly dehydrated but not always to a major extent.[/quote']

I think you should take this up with Professor Tim Noakes. What you say goes against ALL of the research that Tim Noakes and his team have put into hydration and hydration related illness (most are related to over-hydration not dehydration).

wolffm, you kept on making reference to the 17 pro athletes using your product. Care to name them please?

I agree with cytomax. You've effectively created a marketing thread. For Sale and Wanted sections I'm sure were initially envisaged for hubbers to sell second hand (or unwanted) items to each other. Not for people with a commercial interest in a product trying to get some marketing on the cheap.

Threads like these (and yours reads like a typical scam... trying to impress with references to science without actually stating the science) is a big part of why  the hub is not the place it used to be. Pay for a banner ad, and stop the pushing please.

I for one will not use this product merely because you had a bunch of newbies endorsing it (I'm sure these can be linked back to you/yours).

Even if a dietician tells me to use it, I'll rather take real food than this if I cannot use regular fruit based gels. So. long rides=real food and short (high intensity) rides = gels.

Having said all of that I am interested in the science / scientist / studies etc that you so wantonly make reference to.

Eagerly awaiting the proof of the pudding ...

Actually Paragon, I am not going against what Noakes says at all, and I agree fully with his stance. The articles you presented deal with hyponatraemia, a subject I am intimately familiar with. What i said is feeling thirsty is already the onset of dehydration. I did not say over do it on the liquid intake.

As an athlete, I know exactly how much fluid I lose under certain conditions (there are testing methods for this), and I know how much liquid I need to take in during an event to ensure a proper balance. What I said earlier was and maybe there was a misunderstanding, but it was not to take in too much liquid in fear of dehydration, but to not get to the thirsty stage, by knowing how much liquid you should be taking in. Rather know your body and know how much you need. I have written numerous articles on this, and I can send you some as well, some of which have been published.

I think this point has been made before by wolffm and by Tim Noakes in your articles:

"One principle of proper hydration hasn't changed: Practice makes

perfect. Experiment with various hydration strategies to learn what

works best for you. Try different sports drinks in varying amounts' date=' and

hydrate at different times during your workout to discover the optimal

mix."

So try the product, then come and give CONSTRUCTIVE criticism to your fellow hubbers.

Anyone feel like debating the merits of Power/Ener/Gatorade? [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley11.gif[/img]

I was waiting to see how long it took someone to post this response - about 2hrs, not bad smiley2.gif

Guys, is it such an offence to be on this thread what is it really that is upsetting you. I am only answering the questions the guys are asking. Its easier to post than to answer the same questions over again. No one is forcing people to read the thread, people have on their own shown interest and we are only responding to questions. A lot of the questions have also not been product specific, and are related to nutrition, not such a bad topic, i can change the heading if you like.

Here are some pro-athletes using our product, and no we don't pay them, they use it because it works well for them. I cant name them all as some cannot be made public just yet, hope this will suffice in the mean time.

Steven Musinghi - Comrades Marathon Winner

Andrew Kelehe - comrades marathon winner 10 gold medals

Jason Spong - Powerman Duathlete - Rank 7th in the World

Lindsay van Aswegen - Runner - Record holder for Spar Bruintjieshoogte Marathon

Kerry Koen - Marathon runner 9th at two oceans

Collen Makhaza - Marathon Runner - Chatsworth Marathon Record holder

Bongomusa Mthembu - 7th at Comrades last year

Jari Munyaradi - Ultra distance runner

Samantha Spong - 15th at IM PE, 2nd category

As mentioned before, no one is being forced to go out and use our product, we believe in it the athletes believe in it and if you are not happy we refund you its that simple.

Sounds like you can download the research article if you pay for it from one of the scientific research paper sites. But there must be a free abstract somewhere. Has anyone looked for it?

It's been said before - use whatever works for you smiley4.gif

There seem to be quite a few non-newbies that have tried it and been impressed (myself included - I actually tried starting a Rant and Rave thread before this one started when I saw the ad for 32GI in Modern Athlete). I don't think the fact that someone from 32GI (wolffm/ Mark) came on here to respond to questions is a bad thing. Rather than flaming him for pushing his product Admin could send him a message to take a banner ad. He also hasn't tried pushing it with a 'signature'.

What is it with hubbers always trying to argue over something? If you do not like the product or the guy it is fine, but let him be. He introduced a new product to us, that is a good thing, now we can try it and give some feedback. Maybe you are so negative on this thread because you fear this product may be better than what you can offer?

So are there any shops in Centurion (Gauteng) where I can get hold of 32GI because I would like to test it for sure.

gadget makes a valid point should we all start debating the percieved merits or failures of other products.

No one is forced to buy the product,  it all boils down to one thing does it work for you or not.

If it works great if not try something else.
