2012 29er options are going to be very competative...and its no longer good enough to just look at a frame.

Personally I think the Momsen AL529 is going to be the bike to beat.

ZTR Crest wheelset ? Check

RS REBA ? Check

XT/SLX mix 2 x 10 ? Check

Price ? Double check!

Add those specs to any other 29er frame and see if you come close to the price point of R13500.00

Just got my Scott Scale expert 29er for R21500.Kitted it out with full Sram xx,Ritchey wcs carbon bar and stem.Weighs in at 10.5kg.Awesome looking, handling, light ect......bike.It's a shame I must go and trash it at the Pioneer!!!

I'm a very content Hubber

So you bought the bike for 21k and then added xx and ritchey stuff.

Coz xx is like R18k by itself.

So the actual bike, + xx and ritchey wcs stuff was?

Unless you bought the frame separately, then it makes sense.

If you don't have wheels, or a shock...

between the 3 which was the best for you?

What did you do when you bought your car, test drove 3 different makes and then decided to buy the worst one... or the one you thought was best?

"Rhetorical questions encourage the listener to think about what the (often obvious) answer to the question must be."

Well, it can't be a rhetorical question because you don't know the obvious answer. If you did, you would not have asked that question.

Its still early and I'm hoping its going to be a nice day so I am just going to go ahead and give you the answer:

The one he bought.

There is always the chance that he prefered one of the other models but it was out of his price bracket? So he then settled on the next best thing?

Just throwing it out there as an option :)

Your question was a totally different scenario to what I asked the guy. You can't compare the 2...

I'm considering the mtb's in the reverse order to what he rode, hence I asked the question

Getting back to the original topic :P

The specs for the Giant XTC 29er are on the website (USA version) now.

I'm not too sure about the colour or specs tbh - I think Giant may have missed a trick with their 2010 lineup

Could be ... but these 3 bikes are all more or less in the same price bracket? We are talking about the bikes right?

Yup your right, totally not comparable. Dumb of me to even ask that question. Ill let you get on with your thread now.

Nice to see someone saw my point!

The Scott goes for R12800 and the Giant is R15500

Have you bothered to compare the specs between the bikes? Then maybe you will see why I asked him...
