Giro d'Italia 2012

That would be nice, but somehow Cunego seems to have been banished to the shouldbeabletoandwantstobutjustdoesnothaveitanymore category - Pity

He is still a very capable rider, and in my opinion one of the few who rides clean, or as clean as possible, his form seems to waver a bit, but in general he is always there or there about - I like his attitude though, and I think his chances of a stage here are good.

He's a has-been

Hmm, hardly a has been, he still wins races and stages frequently, Google around, you will be surprised.

No doubt he is a good rider still , but he doesn't have that flair he once had

Interesting to note Jack bobridge finished 1 minute behind Phinney on stage one in 114th place, they are former rivals on the track.

Must be due to the lack of racing and injury this season.

Yeah, Bobridge was "on and off" the bunch at the back the whole stage, - had to chuckle at Phinney when he went into the ditch and emerged with half the duck pond stuck to his bike, he did well though considering his injury, I think the team could have won actually but waited for him a bit, he definitely lost the wheels near the end which lost them a few seconds waiting, but it was a good show of support for the youngster, leaving him on the road would have been terrible for his spirit.

Almost like Lance in his last TDF

True, but when he won the Giro in 004 he was still very young and he had a lot of pressure to perform in Grand tours, over the years he has matured a bit more and its obvious he is unlikely to be a consistent winner of these grand tours, however he has won a lot of classics, and regularly takes stages in tours, still a very complete rider indeed.

I read a comment yesterday along the lines of "Phinney has used his derailleur as a lawnmower"!

Another sprinter's day, pancake with some lumpy bit after 175kms, although one can expect a puncheur or few to try and make a break for it...

Garmin should defend pink on this course.

I wasn't wrong....was I?

Some serious skills kept him upright though

My money is on Thor or Cav for today

He's been tame without the Rainbow Stripes.

Hope Hushovd can show some of his class.

85 km of 199 left.

No threat to the GC ladder with a 4 rider breakaway within touch of the pack of wolves.

Garmin sure to defend with ease today, barring any technicals or crashes.

Yeah, the racing odds are with them.

Even have a rider at P4 as well on the GC.
