A mate (Acroblanc) and I will be there as well - 30-35. Looking forward to the race! Would love a race with some climbing for a change...

I havent seen much hype around this event on thehub which surprises me given the fact that its a qualifying event the 2012 UCI World Cycling Tour Final (Vets World Champs basically) first 25% of each race automatically qualify.

Who's doing it and whats the general feeling around the event?

Entries close tomorrow (21/10/2011)

Event website is here: http://www.msunduziroadchallenge.co.za

Why so many VETS? lots of dogs, cats or cattle around?

Well judging on the TT start list, all the big names are making this trip. I am told they are grouping 30-49 together for road race. Could make race tactics tricky....Julius Cobbet 30-34 could get into move with Cronje or Mclean 45-49, the chase group could give some guys a free ride and others that were hoping to sit in might find themselves now having to chase:-) Also no back up vehicles allowed, only a neutral service vehicle

Glad there will be some company at the blunt end of the field- some club mates of mine have ridden the route and say the amashova is almost flat in comparison

:o :o :o

Personally I think the amashova has some big climbs (at least for me) for a "downhill" ride so I am a bit nervous for this ride. Also some light rain predicted as well.

Congrats to the Colonel - 3rd in 35-39 yesterday. The course was brutally hard - 1800m ascent over 126km in 30 degree plus heat. Andy Davies won the TT and then powered away from David Garrett in the last couple of k's to win the road race as well - which makes me feel a little better about him riding me off in our two man break last weekend :P

Mighty Mouse posted fastest time of the day across all age cats at the TT, and then won the 45-49 road race as well.

Congrats to young Ed 'the Beast' Greene on winning the road race outright - great to win a big race with a quality field that also happens to be in your own back yard. thumbup1.gif
