kosmonooit Posted December 5, 2011 Share As I understand the idea of Hope floating rotors, is that the outer braking ring can expand freely due to heat generated from braking, minimising the thermal stresses as opposed to one piece rotors that are susceptible to warping because the centre is bolted down. Also allows different and relevant materials to the use, the inner piece is machined Al whilst the outer is steel of some form. But they are slightly heavier that most one piece rotors.
