Where in the East Rand do you stay? If you stay around the Edenvale area you are more than welcomed to join the Edenglen Cycling club for a morning ride. We leave from the Karaglen Shopping Centre (outside the Virgin Active) at 06:00. Saturdays we ride about 50km and on Sunday we normally do anything betweeen 75-110km.

Road or MTB

MTB there are rides from Finish Line KP on Sat 45-50km (easy to mod)

Road Sat there is a group that leaves at 5.30am from Ridge shopping center (mod)

Road Sun from Tour de Frans Boksburg (not sure of time but inquire at shop)($#%%% fast)

Sunward wheelers and Fit Shack clubs also have weekend rides. (various levels)

Springs wheelers also have weekend rides. (????)

Depends on your level

IMO Tour de Frans Sunday ride is a recovery ride, they cruise for 50k, then stop for tea and sandwiches, then cruise back home, the last 4k down atlas rd is the only fast section of the whole ride.

If you want fast the Sat am ride from Bedfordview through Benoni, Pomona, back to Bedfordview is faster. We managed 43 avg a few weeks ago, including stops at robots!! However any ride can be easu depending on where you sit in the bunch.

I think my dad is still the chairman of springs wheelers, so if you really want pm me, and I'll send you his number, I'm sure he can tell you all the details of their rides

I guess speed is relative then

For most of us, the sunday Frans ride is a nice easy recovery session.
