Walked in one day to buy half a dozen Falke trail running socks, got to the till and they started ringing them up at like R45 per pair. Told them where to stick the socks. Went to Sportsmans Warehouse on the way home and picked the same socks up for R27 per pair.

I dont buy that stuff there. So far I have bought there a 75L+10 Vaude Backpack,Kershaw Knife,La Sportiva Tibet boots and a number of specialist items pretty much cheaper than the other specialist shops like Mountain Mail Order,Hikers Paradise,Orca, etc. And that shop next to Epic Cycles. They are expensive.Basically the stuff I cant get at Sportsmans etc

Depends on what you want to use the tent for...I prefer Mountain Hardwear, they cover anything from 2/3 season suitable for SA to 5 season high altitude stuff. Used the Trango 2 above 6000m and it withstood a SERIOUS thunderstorm with extreme winds and cold comfortably. They are a bit heavy but bomb proof. Also look at EV tents. They are a bit heavy but bomb proof. It was overkill but the only option I had so I lent my Trango 2 to my daughters to camp at Oppikoppi this year. I asked them how the weekend was and my daughter commented that "the tent stood out like a Bugatti at a VW conference ! " I suspect she has been watching too much Topgear Having said that, great tent, and +1 for Drifters in Sandton City.
