**** so that means if 90 overs have been bowled & it's not 5pm yet they can continue to bowl for a result? Unless both captains agree that it's no point, I doubt SL will be that generous!

Amla getting more help from the physio. He is in some discomfort

go the mighty #

he faced 380 something balls in the first innings, 134 now. plus he's had the added new pressure of now being captain whilst we're bowling. The man is a role model for ultimate concentration.

should be tea shortly then 30 overs left, throw in another couple of showers & we survive.

i think they will play to 29 overs in the last session(is that right?).

amla is a legend I wonder if he was fasting during the Muslim month of Ramadan?

At this rate SL will be bowling 40+ overs in the last session.

they're back on the field. i got a bit fooled by the timezone, SL is 3 hours 30 minutes ahead of us..

Reckon morkel is lank keen not to put pads on today.

if it's a draw, # should get man of the match

if it's a SL win, then the spinner who wraps it up will get it. herath on 8 wickets, pereira on 6.

nope, almost impossible in the heat. He might have done it during their off-season.

If a result is unlikely, then captains can shake hands in the final hour

In this case, with the quick over rate of the 'Lankans, prob right to the bitter end.

If likely, yes, light permitting, extra time can be added.

This one's is gonna be tight

I think they play up till 5pm, which is 1:30pm SA time.

then an extra half hour if a result is possible.

don't think minimum overs count today as they lost so many yesterday and this morning.

3.2 Extra Time

The umpires may decide to play 30 minutes (a minimum of eight overs) extra time at the end of any day (other than the last day) if requested by either captain if, in the umpires opinion, it would bring about a definite result on that day (this is in addition to the maximum one hour's extra time provided for in 3.1 (a) (iii) above). If the umpires do not believe a result can be achieved no extra time shall be allowed.

If it is decided to play such extra time on one or more of these days, the whole period shall be played out even though the possibility of finishing the match may have disappeared before the full period has expired.

Only the actual amount of playing time up to the maximum 30 minutes extra time by which play is extended on any day shall be deducted from the total number of hours of play remaining, and the match shall end earlier on the final day by the amount of time by which play was previously extended under this clause.

74.1

Perera to Amla, OUT, they have the big one, Mahela takes this at slip and runs towards the boundary, tossed up high and full, Amla has resisted driving at these till now, probably the state of his leg, probably he is tired, but he has a go at the drive, and Mahela has not built up that record at slip for nothing, he snaps up a sharp chance

HM Amla c Jayawardene b Perera 25 (159b 4x4 0x6) SR: 15.72

No issue with rain

plenty overs left

Hoping the Vern can do some more all-rounder magic.

One for 'Lanka to lose.

GO VERN

like sands through the hourglass...so are the days of our lives....

4.08 pm But wait, the covers are returning. The rain has returned

4.07 pm The stumps are being put back, that shower has passed

4.03 pm The rain has picked up now. It really is coming down now, and they have to go off
