Huh, that's interesting, I dont spin much anymore mostly because in my opinion the instructors think its all about "pop-corning" up and down all night and it kills my knees and lower back, but when I do take the odd class I normally spin at Broadacres VA, and I am pretty sure I must have done some since this thread was started in November but I cant really say I noticed anything different, maybe they didnt change those bikes? ................dont know, but I will have to go look tomorrow when I go swim.

Ja I noticed quite a few of the gyms never upgraded to the tomahawks in the first place... i assume after the initial negative response they put a hold on the rollout...

Am 100% with you on the bike gymnastic up and down nonsense - as a result I chose my spinning instructors carefully. Very easy to spot a cyclist vs a gymjockey.

Oh okay, I sort of thought by the OP and the following posts it was done throughout all the gym's. I will have a lookie see tomorrow at Broadacres.

:D Yeah, "bike gymnastics" very apt.

The spin bikes at westville VA and la lucia VA are different, but I don't feel much of a difference. I've been training at la lucia for ages and their bikes haven't change. Westville bikes do look more up to date. Will see what makes they are tomorrow... I know I seem to battle my ass off when it comes to trying to adjust westville bikes...

Otherwise they both seem ok, just westville bike and I seem to have words before our bonding time.

Just to report that Broadacres VA still has the StarTrac bikes, I dont know if they changed over and changed back, but today I took a lookie see and they were all StarTrac as far as I could see.

Another issue with the new Tomahawk bikes is the lack of seat fore/aft movement range. For most people it is a case of dropping a plumbline down from knee and the plumbline should go through pedal when foot is in the 3'oclock position. With the tomahawk, I can't get the saddle far enough forward to make this setting possible. The ability to be able to setup correctly is essential and also basic. These are badly designed bikes.
