Whats wrong with 5hrs+ in the saddle?

Good preparation for the 99er and bouckaert & soenen events

I did a 3:30 for Bouckaert Soenen last year..... nowhere near 5 hours.

I know that 5hours is extreme, but tis the season of base, (and giving and other stuff) but most importantly base.

I'm only joking btw :P, with every up there is a down, so if we could avg 25 or even 20 up we'd be going 45 down the other side easily, so under 5hrs won't be a problem.

Was about to say "I'm in!"... and then I realised it's Friday and some of still have to work. :cursing:

:) same here! If I can be back in Durbanville by 8h30 them I'm in! But I guess then the average would be a bit higher...

Seriously tempted... have wanted to do this route for a while! Depending how the week goes, I may jump in at the last moment, with my son. Travelling from Rondebosch, so would have to get up at the pre-crack of dawn... :o Will let you know if we can make it.

Don't think you'll be back by 08h30.

Andy I think you need a sick leave notice! I am also looking for a nice LSD ride. So if you are in then I will also consider joining. Just be gentle with me...

Nice route, did it myself saterday. You should look at taking the slanghoek road, turn onto R101 and then towards goudini, the road is a lot quieter and bit more undulating, could cut about 5 km of the total distance though.

FWIW: Slanghoek "version" of this route is 118k's. With an extra climb you hardly feel (very gradual) from Du Toit's side, but if you're coming clockwise (Bains first) it's a bit more "there", just after the river where you split from (or join, if going Du Toits first) the route as suggested).

Lekker between the vineyards the whole way, stunning! And only that fast-flowing traffic for a while...

Either way - you guys must enjoy it!
