Ok, so my laptop stopped working and so did my telephone and ADSL line.

 

Took my machine in, they confirmed lightning damage.

 

Bought a new machine and came home around 5 pm yesterday.

 

Decided to log a fault online(used my phone as a modem) to telkoms website, completed it around 7pm.

 

Can you believe the technician came to my house this morning at 8h45!

 

Fixed everything and now i am back in the land of the interwebs.

 

AMAZING.

 

I thought i was going to have to wait a couple of weeks before getting it resolved considering the time of year and all.

 

Well done Telkom.

Had some brilliant service from them about a month ago on a new ADSL line - everything took less than two weeks. They are realising they need to seriously up their game...

I begged and pleaded. I used Jedi mind control, I offered the technician a six pack.

 

The last excuse, was that he needed to get onto a pole in the yard of a house down the street, and the old lady wouldn't let him in the yard.

 

PS< dude, the next few years, things like ATM's and such will require two factor authentication based on biometric sensors. Do we sell the concept of the sensors must check for a pulse in the thumbprint, or do we invest in the ATM cleaning branch of your business?

Actually, thats not a bad idea.

 

Maybe we should look at importing the biometric sensors etc. not a bad idea TNT.

 

And if that doesnt work, we clean the ATM's anyways.

Its weird, the last couple of weeks i have had to go do errands that normally make me cringe, like renewing my passport etc. but even that was pleasant and smooth. new passport in 3 weeks and only spent 30 minutes at home affairs.

 

I hate to say it, but things are starting to look up on the organisation of these types of things.

Is crap, I was on hold for an hour last night, tried to call them first thing this morning but waiting time is over 30 mins this morning, I have asked for two call backs and not had one yet.

 

I also logged for them to call me back via the Interweb.

 

I can't get a hold of anyone to speak too, so damn frustrating :cursing:

Telkom service - now those are the 2 words in the dictionary next to oxymoron.

 

I think the OP just got lucky! Our phne line/adsl has gone twice in the last yr.. The first time it took about 8 weeks, about 20 calls, and a couple of visits to their offices to get sorted. In the mean time we had sms's telling us our fault had been rectified and ticket closed meaning we had to start the process from scratch a couple of times! The second time it "only" took about a month.

In the mean time we had sms's telling us our fault had been rectified and ticket closed meaning we had to start the process from scratch a couple of times! The second time it "only" took about a month.

 

I've got three call backs that I'm waiting for, so three differant numbers in the hope I get at least one back. I've tried to call the Telkom shop, its been "busy" for 3 days now. :angry:

I feel your pain. I recommend low expectations and strong drugs.

Only had good experience from Telkom, latest being last month when i noticed my home ADSL was very slow, logged a fault for it on the website at 10am and get a sms acknowledging it and another one a bit later stating it has been passed to the technicians, get home at 4.30pm and there is a van outside waiting for me, showed the technician and 10 min later everything was fixed.

I had a very good experience 2 weeks ago with Telkom, the business lines were down i called to log a fault and within 24hours it was all sorted out. The technician was also friendly and helpful
