Friend gave me a VDO cycle computer with HR, but the magnet pick-up/sensor did not work. No prob, only wanted it for the heart rate monitor anyway (which worked just fine)!

Now that the quiet time at work has set in I thought I would have a look at the VDO site to see if there were any South African agents (the computer was originally bought from Slipstream Cycles). Checked the list of current models to see if my model was still in production. Yep! it sure was. Second from the bottom of the range (HC 12.6). Nope, no SA agents, but there was a "contact us" link. (Please fill in the form with all your contact details, address etc - required!)

Emailed them at 10:00, explained the problem.

At 11:00 (an hour later) they emailed me back: sounded like a factory fault, and they had therefore despatched a replacement part (part no 5510 - the docking holder and 1.5m wire and sensor attached) at no cost!!!

WTF!!! Can you imagine that happening here? Hats off to VDO! Way to go guys!ClapClapClapClapClapClapClapClapClap

Don't know if VDO cycle computers are part of VDO electronics. I had a VDO car radio and they were distributed by Philips SA. Workshop is next to the Philips building in Martindale just down theroad from Westdene Cycles.

Great service none the less.

Well, another story about service is that I got my Santa Cruz frame from Martelpypie earlier. Was delivered by his friend right at my office. Not a cent delivery charges. Clap

I'm so pleased to hear this .. do you think now that maybe you could get the HR function to stop beeping every 5 odd sec's ? Unless of course that really is your HR ? LOL

On a note of service over here; I pm'd Mr Look some time back enquiring about a replacement chainguard sticker for my 585 and he sent me one in the post at no charge. There you go then Clap

I have never had issues with international suppliers / purchases, last year I bought a digital video in the USA, anyway the screen started getting little streaks in it - e-mailed Sony locally and they said I had left it in the sun and said they couldnt repair or replace under warranty (although they did say it held an INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY) - anyway e-mailed the shop in NY and asked what I could do.?

They said nothing, its a factory fault and they will send me a new one immediately, which they did.

So Yeah, try and get that service here - AINT GONNA HAPPEN MAN!

Just DON'T go to Cyclesure with a claim, they will try and get out of each and every claim they can

They are a BUNCH OF DIPSH!TS and I have no qualms repaeting myself to anyone or anybody....................

Bliksempie cracked the frame on the bottombracket after some power work uk Klapperkop.  Immediately took the bike to Bruce Reynecke. Told and showed him where it cracked

.  Sent the claim to cyclesure there answer was quote" We do not insure frames the crack only crash damage.  End of story R2400 later picked up a Specialized at Karstens for Bliksempie, my son is as happy as a pig in Jerusalem and I am stuck with a dud that no one will touch.

Waht am I to do??????????????????
