Garmin Training Centre and Sportracks readings .....

That sucks, how difficult can it be for something like a garmin gps and related software to accurately record cadence?

BTW both figures 63 and 71 look a bit low, either your cruising the beach roads or both have got the cadence wrong.

Borrow a polar CS 400 and double check those cadence recordings.....

I don't think it's that low. If he spent 15% freewheeling, 15% climbing at 70rpm and the rest at 90rpm, his average would be 65rpm.

how would the two software packages know the difference ?

I uploaded the same set of data without changing anything. ST had 63 as opposed to 71 on GTC

I can't be sure, but does GTC not have a setting that you can change in the software?

Are you using auto-pause?

Can you upload the .tcx file here? Plug your 705 into you PC and find the 'Garmin/History' folder (I think). The files are named according to data and time. You may have to zip it to upload it here.

no no, the cadence readings are correct, lets just say that I like your choice of words ..... cruising

truthfully the wind was blowing and I could not have been bothered to pedal harder faster

I forgot, the hills only go up where you are.

Luckily not, and the downhills are rather loooong.

I guess I just train 15% more than you by pedaling on the down hills as well

I used to train a lot using cadence back in 2004 / 2005, will be interesting to see what my averages were then, hopefully still got those traing logs....

eek.gif 15% free wheeling eek.gif

Yeah, 15% is a bit hectic...... more like 25% climbing and 5% free'ing..... also, as far as I know, the zero cadence is not included when using Garmin Connect........ maybe that is where the difference comes.

Still, Slowbee, that is a low cadence.....

I don't think that's the case. I chucked my ride from GC into Excel and calculated the average, ignoring zeros. It went from 65rpm to 85rpm.

I suspect it's more likely to do with how the handle auto-pause i.e. actual gaps in the file where there's no time or any other data recorded.

Garmin Trying Centre sucks ass

Garmin Disconnect is just as bad!

SportTracks rule!

Yea, don't use the auto-pause function, the clock never stops ticking
