website is working in Chrome.

The route used to go up the M7 and down the M19 but I see there is a bit on there abt removing the Umgeni/M19 intersection (probably due to the road works) and that there is a "stretch through the streets of Westville"

and registration is at gateway - 30k north of the start/finish venue....why so far away ?

TDB has been moved up country, they are now using this as a "Roving Tour" picking different areas each year. I think it's held in Nelspruit this year.

"Through the streets of Westville" might mean going off the M19 at Westville North, going down Blair Atholl  across to the M13?

Also got directed to some sketchy pool massage site :/

If it does happen I asssume it will be partial road closure. The Engine Dynamic race last year was a nightmare at some parts becuase of cars :(

If Tarmacs Revenge is correct and it's not been held here I guess you cannot really call it Tour of Durban :)

Thank you :)

Now to get back to training :S

Is it safe traffic wise to train up your neck of the woods? I wanna ride up to that area from Durbs but worried about cars etc

@ robinh - Ya, it's not that bad at all. I've cycled from Umhlanga to uShaka and back a few times. Take a ride up this side one weekend, you see tons of cyclist on the road in the Durban north and Umhlanga area. If you plan on cycling on the M4 then go early morning and if you plan on cycling up to Ballito then best to have someone follow you...road not so great from Umdloti to Ballito.

TdD- Here we go again! Bet the "Sponsors" pull out again this year. What a shambles and it looks like it is repeating itself this year. Bloody dog show so far............

I ride from Durbs to Umhlanga (either along Umhlanga rocks drive or the bottom way - anyone beyond that is sketchy to me. From Umhlanga to the Sibaya garage there is not much of a shoulder along that stretch. Haven't tried anything beyond that to be honest :/ Thought you ride from Umhloti and maybe up to Ballito

Oh sorry, my ex has cycled up to Ballito and he always had someone following him. Best bet. He enjoys cycling from La Lucia to Ballito back down to the beach front. He's done it a few times.

Hi Everyone. Thansk for your comments and queries, and sorry I havent replied earlier. The new Tour Durban website is loaded up and working at www.tourdurban.co.za - make sure if you have tried to log in over the past few weeks that you re-type the address in so no cache takes place. The trouble with the website not going to the actual site has been sorted by our IT guys, apologies for any inconvenience.

With regards to the race, we re-established it last year and had just over 2500 riders, and we're looking on builing on that this year. We learnt from our mistakes last year, and comit to make them right. The event takes place from the 27th - 29th April, with the MTB on the morning of Friday 27th (public holiday), the crit that evening, and the road race from moses Mabhida on Sunday. All seeding and entry details and programmeare listed on www.tourdurban.co.za - we're also loading up the entries now to take effect from Thursday morning, or asap before that if possible.

The MTB route has been changed by approximately 20%, and in our view, much better. The 105km road ride is now including a section through Westville, and takes out the danger risk area of Umgeni intersection with the N2. Again, FULL ROAD CLOSURE is secured for the event.

If there is anything you cant find on the website, please feel free to contact me direct on 0834568435 or stu@impiconceptevents.com - we look forward to hosting all of you.

Thanks StuB,

At last someone is able to post something concrete.

I have tried to access the ebsite as directed, and still not working, will try from my home pc tonight.

Perhaps next year the event organizers should update and advertise more to ensure that this race can actually grow.

It looks like on the past there have been issues, which I hope you would like to avoid going forward.
