Wow. I am so impressed!! Thats awesome to see such a turnout, and I had forgotten how good a packed grandstand looked.

Please tell me...was there a TV crew there to catch the racing?

My congratulations to the organisers and all competitors...thanks for showing us how track should look.

cool pics, thanks guys.

Do they still have athletics at the same time ?

Last time I raced (late 80's) the ace SA sprinter (I forget his name) was doing the 100m- very impressive.

No TV - it just doesn't fit in with SSCycling Cyclelab image.

and i bet my bottom dollar that no csa top brass or selectors were there to witness the progress that "development cyclists" have made.

this is an ideal event for csa to bring down the potential olympic riders to the cape. paarl is a slow track , u need to be strong to win here.

I can't believe there's no pictures of my porno-Specialized-shoe-covers Cry

There were a couple of serious/semi-serious photographers in the track centre, wonder where their pics are likely to be found Geek

i would venture a guess:

Carinus, Willie Newman, Hein Kroff, CWillemse,Kulsen. i'd fall flat on my back if the hoi polloi like LWhittakar, Dave B and Steve Hayward were there to witness the cycling. Buycycling and Ride would also not of bothered to pitch up and write an article on an event that basically was the birth of cycling in this country.

and next year we'd all have to go race with the old toppies - don't forget to go again on saturday (29th) - apparently arren brown, jamie ball, gadi chait all lining up for that one...could be a lekker rematch for a 25miler, esp now that yesterday's young winner will be watched...

(hein kroff was also there, as well as elrick kulsen. hein is a board member of csa and hear dude of track, whilst hein and elrick are also both track selectors - i didn't see any other csa brass )

There will be TV and photographers  as well as several reporters at the race on 29th - remember it is up to the organizers to make sure that media pitch!
