Most gyms do a few courses througout the year. Just go and inquire. It will really help with your fitness! And they pay you to make pretty girls sweat all over their machines...smileys/smiley36.gif

Cois...

Your best bet is to go to a Virgin Active and enquire.  They do the Cyclelab thing.

Treger Sports (Johny G) is also in Jhb.

These are the two main line Instructor courses....I won't look at anything else.

Scope of Courses
All courses at the Academy equip the individual with the theoretical and practical skills required to become a top professional in their field. Lab Cycling (spinning) Instructors will be entitled to teach at any of the private and corporately owned studios. Currently there is a huge demand for WELL-trained instructors who are able not only to offer their classes technically sound teaching but also sessions with an element of entertainment or "entertrainment" as it is more accurately known. Further Qualification in the form of the Advanced Instructors Course (currently the only one of its kind in the country) also allow for the individual to earn bigger salaries and improve their rating when being graded.

Methodology
Courses offered are 1- 3 days in duration and consist of seminars and practical work presented by a team of top fitness professionals from around the country. Although most courses begin with a solid theoretical grounding the emphasis the Academy places is on practical application and rehearsal of concepts. For this reason all training is supplemented with microteaching sessions (video playback and analysis) in order to ensure that practical mastery of the concepts has been well cemented. Course material is provided in a user-friendly format so that scientific jargon is well explained in accessible terms.

Course Contents
See individual course outlines for course contents.

Examinations
In order to ensure that the extremely high standards of the academy are met and maintained all candidates undergo a theory and practical examination. External examiners and moderators are utilized to ensure quality and impartiality. Students who do not meet the minimum requirement are taken through their areas of weakness and afforded the opportunity of re-entering the examination at a later date at a cost of R150-00 per module.

Certification
Certification takes place 2 weeks after examination where students are presented with a Cycle Lab Academy Qualification in their respective field. Affiliation to ETA (Exercise Teachers Academy) ensures that the Cycle Lab Certification adheres to the National Guidelines laid down by SAQA and that the qualification is valid in countries outside SA. Academy currently has students working in London, Germany, Switzerland, Dubai, Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Prerequisites
No prior qualifications are necessary for admittance into courses (except Advanced). However some level of involvement or experience in the fitness industry is recommended. Also where candidates do not yet have a matric certificate they may be required to undergo an interview before gaining admittance.

Good instructors are characterized by an openness to learn and an outgoing confident personality. Whilst a fitness test does not form a part of the entrance criteria, students who are not of an adequate level of fitness may be asked to attend a course at a later date in order to attain the appropriate fitness level for courses involving instruction.

National Diploma in Fitness
In addition to the 3-day Lab Cycling Diploma candidates are encouraged to attend the National Diploma in Fitness course currently administered through ETA (Exercise Teachers Academy). Although students qualifying off the Lab Cycling Course ONLY will still be entitled to begin instructing classes it is beneficial to gain this additional certificate as it allows students wanting to further their career in "Personal and Group Training" to have the basics in anatomy and physiology. Please contact ETA (Exercise Teachers) for course costs and dates: (011) 807 2079.

Academy Partners
Cycle Lab Academy is proudly associated with a number of strategic partners. These brands play a major role in assisting with growth and development in the Spinning or Indoor Cycling Industry. They are Footzoldier, ETA (Exercise Teachers Academy), MMUSA (Muscle Marketing USA- Liquid Creatine), X-Biking (Technogym) , Schick, Energizer and Energade.
