Cois ...what am I doing wrong?

As our resident expert in photography, Cois can you offer any advice on getting good shots of the moon? I have tried numerous options shutter v's apeture and realize that the moon offers a huge amount of light but I'm still battling with sharpness???

I would suggest that best pic you will get, is if you take it while standing on the moon?  Cois am I correct?........

Hmm, I am no expert on the moon, but no 1 is to shoot at ISO 100.

Try not to shoot at 500 mm, and your Av to a lower setting if you can.  And use a tripod.  If you have a remote switch for your camera use it as well.  And if you can use mirror lockup.  it will reduce the shake.  I think your body has IS built in right?  Us it if you can.  Take a few shots of the moon.  byt try a few Av settings.

 

And set your Tv as fast as you can.  We can't see the moon move, but with a SS at even 5 secs you will get a soft effect.
