Good day all

I am new in Cape Town and reside in Rondebosch.

I am looking to join a cycling club that is close to me, but don't just want to join at any club as I am new to the cycling thing as well.

Any suggestions on clubs and what to look out for?

Thanks

:)

Welcome to the Fairest Cape :) .... and the Southern Suburbs!

Closest club to you is at Western Province Cricket Club (entrance in Ave De Mist). I don't ride with them but understand they cater for beginners. Best option is to call Dean (Club manager) on 021 6573330 and ask him who is the organizer.

Only other club I know of is CycleLab Westlake - don't have their number with me but they should be in the book.

It's Western Province Cricket Club (WPCC). They started a cycling section a few months back. Apparently do a couple of rides each weekend.

I was a member there as well so this must be new. The problem is to be a member you have to go through quite a process at a fair cost as well. When i was last a memeber i think it was in the region of R3k a year plus your 'sport' fee. Great facilities but I live in town and didnt make use ofthem. You also get access to the memebers stand at Newlands!

You may also want to consider Cape Town Giants. They ride from Kromboom road every Sunday and sometimes on a Saturday as well. They cater for road as well as MTB. no matter what level your riding ability is they have a group .... from league to juniors

Thanks guys

Went past the cricket club and the cycling has been up for about 2 months now, very new and they do one cycle every saturday morning. Sure it'll grow though. Yes i am not sure if i want to pay all those fees, need to consider all options.

I'll check out all the links provided. Nice to have ppl that help, especially being new and not knowing CT too well.

Safe cycling to all :)

What about Club 100 in Constantia? I'm based in Rosebank, by Rustenberg, and the common and thinking of joining them. Didn't know about WPCC, will see what their cost are.

Lizzy if you fancy a ride then I'm always keen. Relatively new to CT as well.

City CC have a club training ride every Saturday - a 'slow' group has been established for novice/unfit riders who are looked after on the ride by members of the club. We are in Edgemead and vary our rides every Saturday. this Sat we will be riding to Llandudno, we will regroup at the parking lot above 4th Beach Clifton where the fitter riders will ride thru to H Bay and the novice group will return to edgmead.
