why was it so hard.....?

This year was tough weather.

A combination of heat and wind.

The 2011 edition was still and cool.

I went up Suikerbossie shortly after 09:00, which felt extra long this year, and the sun was beating down already.

Southeaster to Smitswinkel and then a northwester from mistycliffs! Not super strong but enough to hurt. On the nose all the way round. Pros were 10 odd minutes slower I think.

Yip!

And quite a block headwind on the Oceanview Rd.

3:03 was all I could manage :-(

Thought I was going to spontaneously combust on Suikerbossie. Longest nine minutes of my life

How many Ds ahead of you. I could only manage 3:08
