It anyway seems the groups are going to be faster with the way seeding was done this year. And before someone says no one did a sub 3 in K last year check L there was a guy able to do it.

I'll be gunning for 3:15 - 3:20 from K (good weather), but my plan is to ride in our little front bunch. The median Time is about 3:30, so given we get last year's conditions, I am confident to be ahead of the curve Edited February 23, 2012 by gadget
andretraut Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Just remember guys, sub 3's are not only achieved on race day, but it is earned with previous seeding races, so that you can start early!
Cheese Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Hi was in K last year and we did not achieve sub 3 as we got caught up in groups before us at Smitswinkel and got trapped in bunches as I lost concentration and later realised that we slowed down to the group that was caughts speed, this costs us at least five minutes on our time.

Azonic Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I have done a sub 3 before, been in A and B bunch (not fun... very fast). Rode Argus last year for the first time in many years and was seeded in S bunch (bwahaha). Ended up about 5th I think in S bunch. This year decided to do the Argus on the Tandem with Mrs. Azonic. She also hasn't done the Argus since 2004 or so. So yeah, now we're seeded in K. A mate of mine that finished 9 minutes slower than me last year (also having started in S) got seeded in D bunch for this year. Wife has some knee problems so she won't be able to push hard (not to mention she hasn't been able to train for over a year - pregnancy + baby now). Its going to be fun Goal time would be around 3:30 this time on the 'Tad.

So you say it is possible pushing really hard and with luck that you dont get cuaght behind groups on the wrong places. My training is much harder then it was when I did sub3 a few years back out of the f group and then we werent realy pushing hard. butt now with boys drive will have to push and be a strong little group to make it.

Kallie. Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 It's my first Argus and I am starting in K but definately wont be pushing for a Sub 3, I will be happy with anything under 3:30 (weather permitting).

I rode a sindle last year, like he did. This year he is on a single again, I'm on a tandem. I'm sure if I were on a single bike again I'd probably have been seeded somewhere from A to C...

I trained as much/hard as i could this year and am currently just slightly behind my fittrack programme for a 2:45 - 3:15 argus, all good in theory but i had a few problems in the seeding races and so never got my argus seeding upto the seeds that do sub 3, dont think i am really fit enough to do it anyway but it was a lekker thought, anyway i am with you to give it a bash if there is a big enough group with us.

Azonic Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Had a good ride on the tandem... Did about a 3:31 after being near the head of the bunch and then having to stop for a mechanical. Twice. Think we might have been top 3 tandems. Probably would have been 1st tandem if not for having to stop and the bunch going up the road. Oh well, happy times :-)
