ROCKITRIDEIT Posted March 5, 2012 Share Tourist - if you're referring to the areas around Tokai (spaanschemat river road etc) and up / over Constantia Nek, then I agree - they are pik-donker! I wouldn't be able to see anything if not for a light. exactly cptmayhem....all of those areas and more, even the street lights on main road in early morning aren't a huge help for showing up potholes and other general road detritus. (completely off topic, but can i just ask as its always "bothered" me, does the "cpt" in your name stand for cape town or captain? I've always had you as captain mayhem, some kind of anarchic force on the bike, causing chaos wherever you choose to ride....)

As in Morgan, or the other spirited type, wreaking havoc on the trails etc... And I'm a Durban boy by birth, so even though I love CT, I ain't no province supporter. Heckflosse Posted March 31, 2012 Share CWC have the 1800-led-lums-sg-1800 and 1000-lums-sg-n1000 on saleAre these any good? Battery life, brightness? What's your opinion? http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/bicycle-light-1000-lums-sg-n1000 http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/bicycle-light-1800-led-lums-sg-1800 Edited March 31, 2012 by Heckflosse
Christopher Brunsdon Posted March 31, 2012 Share Only use strobe if you got a light the lumen of a match stick - else keep them solid. I would say any light that makes you visible and lets you see where your going. Interested in this thread as morning is now the only time I get to ride and I also need a light. ROCKITRIDEIT Posted April 1, 2012 Share in the end I bought the Ryder Centauri 1000 rechargeable light from CWC at the Argus expo for R799. The light is marketed and distributed by Omnico, and after chatting to the CWC guys they said it was as good as the Bicycle Light for the purpose I needed it for. So far so good, works like a dream, easy to bar-mount the light using the O-rings provided (different sizes) and the battery pack on the top-tube using the velcro straps.
