???

The force applied, if you're putting out more watts then surely the spokes are more likely to break?

Just saying that the mavic's can withstand surges and still be fine.

Without spokes breaking.

A 'surge' is more like 1250 - 1500 watts. Or whack bike plus 404's on the boot rack and tear down the N1 at 160 for close to an hour because you are late for the race. That's a 'surge' that will necessitate a rebuild in my experience.

How about a brand new set at 1260g (alu 20mm profile) for R3k brand new! Or 1360g for R2k! They're only a PM away :whistling:

Weight without skewers & rim tape?

I ride a set of Cane Creek Volos. They tickle the scale at 1600g, cane creek skewers and rim tape included. What makes them rock is the sealed three bearing hubs. Rollin' smooth.

I love all this talk of too much power breaking spokes ... in my case, I suspect it's "too much lardy ass" ... ;)

You got my interest in terms of price & weight - if the lesson with Easton's taught me anything though, it's the importance of after sales backup when stuff breaks (in this case luckily Helderberg/Omnico were really good). So what are we talking here?

Just did a quick Google on these, and they sound pretty durable - did you buy them locally in SA?

Yeah, I bought them locally. I had a set on my bike which got damaged during a fall. They were then replaced by my local LBS. Cane Creek does not produce road wheels anymore so stock availability might be an issue.

And they are very durable.
