Bin Laden

It was in the news, ages ago.

I read just yesterday, that he wasn't buried at see, but that his body ended up in in a secret FBI medical facility. I follow too many anons on twatlicker.

I guess I'm just too logical to "get" this religion thing. Sure it's a very shallow question but really - is the god of the jews really going to get pissed off if they eat pork? Likewise muslim people if the food has not been blessed? It just seems pretty petty to me.

I'm not trying to be an arsehole (although it does come naturally) but I don't understand why gods enforce rules that are silly. It forces people (like race oraginsers) to time consuming and additional responsibility for a handful of people.

Couple that with the fact that some religions enforce their own ways in their own country then expect to force their own ways in other countries and religion really seems limiting instead of broadening.

Wheelchairs I can understand - it's a practical problem that requires a practical solution.

To a point I agree with you. There is a difference between religion and a lifestyle however. A religion dictates what you can and can't do as opposed to a lifestyle choice (and that included some religions to a certain extent). My wife is a red meat abstainer not for religious reasons but rather because she doesn't like the taste. I f we go to supper, and there is meat, she will have veges and salad without kicking up a fuss. Are you going to throw your toys because there are tomatoes in the salad? No. You just won't eat them.

To all the Muslims, Jews, Hindus, etc, if you have special dietary needs, say something. Don't go there hoping and then complain when it doesn't suit you. You are paying good money to ride and be fed. I am sure the organisers will oblige.

Seeing as I am an acolyte of the Church Of The Flying Spaghetti Monster, can I also demand pasta for breakfast?

Geez, if your superstitions go this far, why not rather stay at home?

Personally my religion is more important than a race.

Always will be and always has been.

Well said

Thanks. It was only for my interest. Same type of "grey" question can be asked of any group and/or religion. I was just thinking that SAB pays sponsorship money to CSA for which it is accounted for as revenue and the players' salaries are deducted from that revenue, hence my indirect SAB-pays-Amla question.

It's like me saying, I don't want Giant to sponsor my road bike, but give it to the bikeshop, which takes off the stickers, and let them give it to me to race with.

And I'm (and I'm sure everybody) is still waiting for the OP's post regarding the organiser's response.

:offtopic: I'll try and find the article in the morrow, but if i'm not mistaken Amla pays a match fine for every game that he plays for not wearing the castle logo, i will try and back it up with the article :offtopic:

Meezo, you are correct. He does pay a fine. Thought it was rather cool of him to stand up for what he believes in.

Heard this too but was no confirmation.

On the topic i spoke to my teammate/riding partner he reckons they do cater for Muslims, but he has also email farmer Glen and will try and get him to post farmer Glens response.

So much for team sponsors. These sponsors are the reason they can go all over the world and play for their country. Without the sponsors, there is no international sport (or national/provincial sport for that matter). I understand the part about standing up for aht you believe in but just because there is a logo on your shirt, doesn't mean that you need to drink/eat/use that product. Lok at how many guys use a bat without a logo.

If SAA sponsored your team and your carrier of choice was Airline X who didn't fly international flights, would you pay the fine and swim to your next international match? I don't think so.
