There are some high volume tyres that should work ok. They might be a bit wide so just check your frame for clearance.

erm...you'll experience a huge difference in geometry and the feel for your bike if you just go and replace the fork and wheels.

the wheel offset on 29 wasn't designed for 26" frames...

Best is to look out for a Giant 29er owner who has upgraded his wheels, as a lot of them do. I have seen them going from R1500. XT go for about R3800 on CWC.

I have a Silverback Saturn bike. So in other words I should just stay on the 26 inch for now. I am a beginner in any case so I guess there is no real need for upgrading. The thing is just that I did get a fork (of a brand new Mongoose bike with Rockshock shocks) and two tyres for free and wondered.......

Damn, I was close to certain you were joking. No in that case if you buy a frame and wheels to rebuild the Saturn components over you will end up spending ~R5000. A brand new Axis A40 with the same level of components is R6 500 so don't consider it.

Suuuuure they will. With the gap between the 26 inch rim and the 29 inch tyre they will actually slip right over the rim! Not really a problem though. I am sure you can close the gap with a 27,5 inch tyre. (So that's what they mean by 27,5 inch wheels will fill the gap between the 26 and 29 inch wheels..... )

Someone in my office bought a new Fuji Entry level 29er, okey-ish components, for R6500.

Solomons I think.
