my wife has been riding a fair bit the last 2 years and and i think it is time to change the blades, i would like to get te ame or go one better

Problem is i know nothing abot this and what blades to order

Think i will probably use cwc cycles unless someone can advise me where to get it cheaper

Also would a blade with more teeth on the big blade make her faster on the flats when she is riding in big blade

what should i order , any advice will be much appreciated

Thanks

i found this online going from big blade to small blade-all slx and looks the same as the ones one my wife's bike

What would the major difference be between a 44 and a 48 blade on her 26 bike?

Changes are the FD is only good to handle up to a 44 and why change. Blades can do 5000+ km.

Unless the chain is skipping on the front no need to change.

Going bigger is not going to make her faster as you will need more power causing bigger muscles to tire quicker.

Those blades look fine still.

48 will be faster for the same cadence. power requirements go up though...

Play with Sheldon Brown's Gear Calculator. Input the two crank sizes and some cassette ratios (11,12,13 as this is about faster) and play from there on.

Hope she is a strong rider for that 48... :whistling:

I replaced the blades on my crank a while back, Buycycle had the best prices at that stage.

We can't see from the photo whether the ring is worn or not. I guess not. However, post another photo. This time hold the cranks horizontal and make sure youre focussed on the top or bottom of the ring. A bit like now, but with the cranks horizontal.

Rings wear first on the powerstroke edges and it is thus easier to see wear here.
