tunariaan Posted May 29, 2012 Share i found this online going from big blade to small blade-all slx and looks the same as the ones one my wife's bikeWhat would the major difference be between a 44 and a 48 blade on her 26 bike?

Blades can do 5000+ km.Unless the chain is skipping on the front no need to change. Going bigger is not going to make her faster as you will need more power causing bigger muscles to tire quicker. Agteros Posted May 29, 2012 Share 48 will be faster for the same cadence. power requirements go up though... Play with Sheldon Brown's Gear Calculator. Input the two crank sizes and some cassette ratios (11,12,13 as this is about faster) and play from there on. Hope she is a strong rider for that 48... Mojoman Posted May 29, 2012 Share I replaced the blades on my crank a while back, Buycycle had the best prices at that stage.

I guess not. However, post another photo. This time hold the cranks horizontal and make sure youre focussed on the top or bottom of the ring. A bit like now, but with the cranks horizontal. Rings wear first on the powerstroke edges and it is thus easier to see wear here.
