ebenvn Posted June 5, 2012 Share Hi guys, I have only a frame and need to buy a bottombracket/crank and headset. Tried to read up on the BB but couldnt get to an answer. How do I know what BB will work? (i know i can measure the width, but what about thread and the different types - ISIS, square taper etc....) Cav' Posted June 5, 2012 Share Take the frame to your lbs to assist
kosmonooit Posted June 5, 2012 Share Try do a web search (aka Google) on your frame make, model and append 'specifications' For the BB its also your type of cranks (Shimano vs Truvativ/SRAM) BB's come with spacers for most widths. More that likely 'English' thread.

I think its a 2006 Gary Fisher Ziggurat - http://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2006&Brand=Gary+Fisher&Model=Ziggurat&Type=bike It states a Truvative GXP (no BB shell width - guess I can measure this....) kosmonooit Posted June 5, 2012 Share Check what cranks you have - the Truvativ has a stepped down (thinner) shaft on the non-drive side

Wyatt Earp Posted June 5, 2012 Share Yes - I do, but building a SS so pref looking for a SS specific oneI have been there and done them all, I recently purchased the new XT that runs a double chain blade and put a Truvativ downhill blade on.It looks taylor made.I had the Truvativ SS crank, I went through more BB's than chain lube.If you are going rigid, a Chris King headset is the way to go. Witbank ?Say Hi to Glen Grundy if you know him *edit typo* Edited June 5, 2012 by Dangle
