Anyone got any updates as to how the track looks after the small amount of rain that fell yesterday?

Have some family in Somerset West... apparently the Lourensford river burst its banks and its been raining a lot since yesterday. Lets hope by Sunday the trails are at least OK to ride in

Ooohh... lets hope for the best. I don't know if any of the event organisers are following this thread, but let's hope that if some of the original route gets washed away, they can work in a detour or something?

We had bad rain last night, and the trails should be very very muddy.

oi... Gravel Travel was bad for me... honestly not in the mood for a repeat of that ride. Any advice on how to get the mud away from the chain besides carrying an extra few litres of water?

I had to do a service on both my hubs as well as bb after Gravel travel. I also need a new chain.

You can change your MTB race into a trail run but that's about it. Pack a small chain lube and rinse the chain at a tap (if available) or after a water crossing.

I had some serious issues cleating in and out later in the race!

Yes... my bike also needed a serious service after the Gravel Travel but luckily no new chain required!

Mud was all over the front derailer which resulted in only having a few gears available for the rest of the race. So river crossing are going to be the next best thing.

Any recommended chain lube?

Yes... cleating was also a major problem in the Gravel Travel!
