Careful buying online. I measured my head circumference and used that to check sizing required for a Fox V2. According to their chart I need a medium. I ended up buying a large and could probably have gone XL. I am hoping that the pads will compress.

As far as the original question goes, it depends on the type of riding you want to do. If you are going to bomb single track and hit the jumps and drop offs use a FF lid. For a XC/Marathon use a normal lid. More risk = more protection.

Greb have learnt most shells are the same size(only XXL usually gets a diff shell casting) its only the lining that makes a diff, just order a XL lining

lekker, Halfnutz... shot for the info!

Pity the same thing can't be said for caps. You have no idea how hard it is for me to find one that fits.

Np Cap , what goes around ....

Ye i often lose out on the nice caps.Same as sk8 shoes ,can get samples sizes cheap, never any size 11 samples = lol

So RockGardn basically a KALI blank.. hmm

So RG using same shell as the kali, but from what ive read, that doesnt mean its as good(not saying it isnt).

Point in case this uvex has same shell as 661 comp, but as OM stated it doesnt have a removable liner. The uvex does, so not all helmets using same shell are equal.Propper shock absorbing liner is key to these non motorized specific FF.

This thread has really got me thinking

So who out there would wear an XC full face lid .... I rather like the idea and after having before broken a helmet on a rock after a tree stepped out and knocked me off the trail into the said rock. I was lucky as I was able to turn my head just in time to avoid it being my face making contact with the rock. My best mates wife to be also rather recently had a nicely swollen lip from making contact with an immobile object.

Now there were a couple of other close calls on the trials too that could have gone awry.

CRC have a couple of helmets on sale at the moment and for around R750 you walk away with a good THE helmet ...

Should all riders not really be using a full face helmet for any MTB riding (Maybe even gravel travel riders) as the roadie XC lids we have will really not do much other than protect mostly the brain and not much more.

If rider call for better and lighter full face lids then in short time the helmet manufacturers generally should be producing lighter, better ventilated and stronger lids at fair prices?

I am considering a full face lid after this .... but I will be wearing lycra at times too :)

putting fashion to one side (Spandex v Baggies), I'm defs getting a full face. Might look like a plonka until I gear up but will be better for it!

Big respect for the research material guys. Shame about the Urge I like the idea (Light, well ventilated enduro style).
