The only thing I have learnt from this thread is that I ride a piece of plumbing, aka Giant

You and me both,. viva la "Blue Bling", rides like a dream though, even if it looks like a pimps jewelery collection.

Where did you buy that? Website says R13995...

On the hub ... where else. Bike shop closing down/changing ownership in PTA was selling at close to what i assume was cost. I think the timing was good as they were releasing new models or about to. The owner of the shop was moving to CPt and brought it down and was delivered in person for FREE. Thanks again Bennie from Single Track MTB. I also prefer a smaller frame and could not find many 2nd hand in the size i needed so was very very happy with my deal

hahaha! I've calmed down now! Just like soe people get all defensive of the bulls, sharks, stormer or man united (don't understand that last one)... Morewood is my "sports team"

Ill help you - they are the 19 times Champions of England and the most valued sport brand/team in the world. *deep breath*

Nothing....but....its not quite a Santa Cruz is it?

oh, mine really is!!

its such a beaut.

Have a look at the GT's, they are the only ones that have kept their frame design since the first frame ever built! that ''triangle truss'' design near the seatpost has been round forever, GT has never changed it, even on their carbon framed bikes!!!!

dont believe me? go have a look...

If your name is pornstar then you can buy a secondhand bike on the hub, "upgrade" it with tired old parts, and sell it for more than a new one.

Or put badges on an unbranded Chinese frame and sell it for a fortune as a premier brand

Hahaha!!

True story tho

LOL

Also a symptom of this forum being dominated by one discipline - XC.

The more you ride other disciplines, the more you appreciate different bikes to do what they're actually designed to. As opposed to some knob riding a 160mm Spez enduro, with Chain Guide, at Northern Farms. And then commenting about its 'abilities'.

And Patches - you can calm down. Was just making reference to a 'south african' brand guilty of the same behaviour. Morewood make good bikes. In China.

My Morewood was hand made in Pmb , thats why I bought it.

Some of their newer frames are fong kong , mine ain't

Not too sure whats the use of this thread - its common sense to realise frames are not all the same

5 different frames can all be made on the same factory production line but to varying specs and quality controls.

4 might be rubbish and one might be decent - due to materials specified , geometry , type of welds/molds , hyroforming etc

all that comes together to make the characteristics that will define that particular frame

I read a frightfully similar thread on the 4x4 community website the other day - that one started out with a comparison between Toyota and Landy off-road capabilities... :P
