Thanks for all the advice! It is clear that TI is the way to go. Thanks Terry for the contact detail.

O yes, by the way! We got hold of a trainer looking very much like the lady in black bikini thingy in the photo above! Amazing what difference extra buoyancy does to our swim performance!

Swimming is all about reducing drag so dont get to excited... :whistling:

Yeah, but a keel can add stability!

at the risk of increased drag ;)

edit: and watch out for shallow waters!

OK, so slightly back on topic - how do you guys calculate how many strokes you take? I.e. every arm or one rotation (left and right)?

Tried to count the other day....you wont believe how many lengths i swam trying to get it right...25m lengths nogal not even 50... eventualy gave it up...to much other stuff to concentrate on.....

I'm going to employ my wife to stand on the side and count, much easier.

I (tried) to count both L and R strokes to be 100% accurate, i know some people just count one side and then double it but its possible that could be out by one...

I just got the 910xt, so used that. That's why I was wondering because on a 20m pool I average 8.2/length...

Oh, and the 910 doesn't pick up your kicking!!! Grrr...

Sheesh 8.2 per 20m thats brillant...ah wait that must be for 1 arm right .... the arm with the 910XT...

I think it's total for both arms, but I want to double check tonight. Still learning how the watch works, but so far it's really awesome!

Thats increddible ..........................how did you get your wife to watch you swim?

Try working it on a cycle i.e. when you breathe if that easier. Either way its just about reducing so if you count cycle, every stroke or every second stroke it shouldnt matter.

Would be interesting to know what you do for 25m, cause it sounds like your stroke is pretty darn good if 8.2 is for both arms, hell even if it was for 1 arm its still good

LOL she's pretty used to my sporting efforts and realised long ago that resistance is futile…..she swims occasionally as well.

I'm busy trying to change my naturaly *** stroke / technique which requires great amounts of concentration, trying to count anything accurately at the same time...eish you heard the story about men and multi tasking...well it applies to me and swimming 4 sure

That's was 20+ years of swimming tends to do... But I'm going to try out the pool by my office to see what happens. Cause the watch gives a SWOLF and Efficiency that's rated according to a 25m pool so that it's more universal. I want to see if there's any effect when I am in a longer pool.

Have you tried strapping it to your ankle?

 That's what my friend told me!
