Let the "stupid" people drive instead? this goes well with 'it's getting hot' discussion, yea all the "stupid" people stop cycling,.. start driving gas gussling v6 range rovers and cause chaos with your big boy trucks and make it easy for all the smart people to recognise who the stupid ones are by climbing behind the wheel of these gas gussling vehicles like smacking a "I am stupid" sticker on your forehead.. or if you do not want a sticky forehead simply buy a range rover, land cruiser, x6 x5 .. all those type of vehicles would keep your forehead "non-stick" and everyone else well informed about your IQ :)

Well look at the hub logic here and generally SA logic, a custom build cycle lane is put down for the saftey and conveniance of us cyclists at a great cost. Now, becuase its not designed for "group" or "club" rides and the fact that you might have the inconveniance to touch your brakes and turn your handlebars becuase the service is not buttery smooth, the logic here dicates that its not to be used since its more fun and better training doing a group ride with 7 abreast in the middle of heavy traffic therefore it must be legal because its not a perfect solution that we wanted. Roughly equates in my mind to taxis thinking they have right of way in oncomming traffic, the yellow lane is for their use exclusivley and indicators are optional accessories.

Don't simply assume all clubs ride 7 abreast.

Come do a ride on the bicycle lanes around Ronderbosch. It's a maize and can only be done on a mtb.

no problem, DJR. You'd be covered. Same as if you cross the road in front of a car etc. They even cover against suicide, if it's more than 2 years since the start of the policy.

If the car was being driven by your enraged spouse though...

oh fff...acepalm. Really? They will cover that?

Sheeyet, what planet are we on, it said earth on the last exit??!!

Hmmm, Aurecon eh, "I can't spell ingineer, now I are one". Common sense didn't come with the flashy kit (or degree certificate).

Nice one dude <sarcasm>. Stupid posts like this should count as a negative post and when your total goes to below zero you are automatically suspended for a week.

That post went over my head, I know some of the Aurecon guys, but I'm obviously not clever enough to know what the poster is on about.

I think we're pretty much on the same page. My feeling is the opposite of the thread title : let the stupid people keep riding their bikes at all costs. Keep the numbnuts away from motorised vehicles of any kind. There are more than enough mentally challenged drivers cluttering up the road already.
