Really enjoyed the event - manhole covers and all...

Just couldn't reel in the breakaway in Vets.

We went to work in the chase and they just stayed away.

Awesome effort, escapees!

You did well bud. Never easy trying to stay with the bunch at that speed but looked like you were taking a sunday ride in the field. Took some wicked photos of the different categories.

Good to meet you, Capcha...

:-)

Thanx for supporting the event with your photography.

all categories raced hard and fast. circuit is flat and conducive to breakaways. the only break to succeed was in the vets/master/womans event. the 2 daiken riders in the break ensured that it succeeded.

nu water and rsa web almost made it in the elite race. chris jooste and evan carstens had a 45 sec gap at the bell but were caught in the last k.

They broke off on Lap 1 already...

The final 2 kms into the SE was not easy to stay away in.

Awesome effort.

Thought that Daikin would take the win yesterday in Vets.

I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday's circuit race (being so tiny and all. LOL!). Lack of climbs with hard and fast racing is fun.

I chased a few breaks early on in the race but always got left in the lurch (20m plus) off the front when the teams just backed off not to chase down their own riders and the solo riders backing off to conserve energy. After a few 'mistakes' like that, I just sat in and enjoyed the race. LOVED IT!

the cut & thrust of bicycle racing - team tactics - speed - makes road racing exciting. we need more of this type of racing. teams have to be organised and have a plan of action. i was impressed with rsa web and nu water. pity about the dq.

And so ends the first season of league racing for an ex-marathon runner turned roadie.

After a patella fracture ended my running career in July 2011, a coworker introduced me to you

lean-looking lot. I think I can say with absolute certainty that racing a road bike is the hardest

damn thing I've ever undertaken.

So thanks to all of you Gentlemen for your spirited participation and to PPA for administering the league, thereby

allowing this rookie to indulge a new found passion for racing bikes.

Every league race was exhausting, exasperating and absolutely inspiring.

Summer league awaits and I have loads of work to do. If I hope to hang with the Big Dogs, I'd better HTFU, ride up grades and buy upgrades :-).

Be safe on the roads and see you all in Jan 2013.
