DeltaAlphaMike Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Do expand on this for us?Unless you literally mean sitting on the seat, coz that would seem obvious. Slick was saying that going through technical single track one should be standing thus providing greater maneuvrability The Ghost 1
Pieter1 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Slick was saying that going through technical single track one should be standing thus providing greater maneuvrabilityTrue dat.
RockCoach Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Thanks to SIR Maxxis for organising this. A great time was had by all. At Fratelli where I literslly see my place, I realised wouldn't make it back down to Paulshof (and back up again) but at that point I had done close to 50kms in 5 hours. It would've been close to 7 hours and I'm not that fit yet. Well done to Warrior Princess, firstly for keeping up with all the race snakes who appeared for this "easy, ladies, slow, skillz" 40km ride and secondly for descending that extremely steep 20m high grass bank at Emmerentia dam wall. Very impressive. You will go far. I will post some more pics when I get them off the camera later. There are some good ones. DR ◣◢, Wayne68, KeepSmiling and 2 others 5
RockCoach Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Slick was saying that going through technical single track one should be standing thus providing greater maneuvrability Yes. That very twistly, slightly downhill piece of ST through the tree line. Remember that as you as you stand you are lowering your centre of gravity right down to BB height. If you sit on the saddle it is about where your midrif is. The standing position allows you to continually adjust your weight and position over the bike. That piece of ST was the only time I got annoyed. Two guys who came flying past me squeezing ahead into the ST shouting "watch out". I told them they were going to hold me up. They were quite quick but I was so close that they were making lots of mistakes, nearly crashing into trees. I must say that I did sit for about 2 seconds through there to catch my breath at one point. Edited August 10, 2012 by slick
