HDW Posted August 2, 2012 Share Hi Guys I'll be doing my first K2C in September, and obviously want to get in some decent training. I'm thinking of 2 or 3 rides around the 100km mark, but being a former roadie, I'm not to sure whereabouts to go. Can you achieve this distance at Koeberg, or must you work around it a bit? How about around Durbanville? Any routes (mostly gravel, etc) you guys can suggest? Thanks! Edited August 2, 2012 by HDW
Selous Scout (aka LegTrap) Posted August 2, 2012 Share Do not under estimate the amount of climbing you have to do in this race,it is tough.I hope the heat is not like it was last year.
HDW Posted August 2, 2012 Share Cool, thanks a lot, will keep that in mind. So you suggest some serious hill training? Can you remember how much the climbing amounted to last year?
knippie Posted August 2, 2012 Share serious amount of climbing!Have a look at the Tip Trans Cederberg Xperience as training ride, less climbing but 15km's longer. flymango

Wannabe Posted August 2, 2012 Share Big rain forecasted for Sunday, and I think I'm gonna have to miss Sunday early. Is Saturday convenient? Already committed to a road ride on Sat (need to get training in for DC) Had a quick look at weather forecast for Sunday, Between 22% - 30% chance of light showers between 06h00 to 12h00. Wind moderate at at between 13 - 20km/h N/NW.Its gonna be cold though, 10 - 14c. Does not seem too bad. Edited August 2, 2012 by Wannabe
