Quick quesiotn - after a mishap last weekend I was left in a heap with my bike on top of me. Mostly scaps and some bruises but my knees are still a bit sore. How long should wait before getting back on the bike - i.e. do i ride through a bit of pain or wait for it to completely heal. Also how long should i wait before going to see a specialist if the pain persists?

We all know our bodies! So if it doesn't feel rite at all, rather see a doc before you get back on your bike.

If it feels like bruising, get back on your bike!

Fine print: I am not a doctor

What Dr would you see? Visually there is mostly a yellowish bruise so much like stiff muscles I thought a ride would do some good but concerned about doing more damage

I'd try a very easy scycle down the road. If your knees hurt then stop, if not carry on.

No expert on drs, but would maybe avoid a useless trip to a GP and head straight to an emergency room. They seem to be a bit more multifuctional.

So, a bit of a hi-jack. So I went for a cycle this afternoon after a 3 week break due to a business trip.

When I arrived home, with some kit in hand, tried to open my sliding door with one finger. So I pull on the handle and suddenly something popped in my hand and wrist. Result: very sore and week hand. Think it might be a tendon, but will wait and see, and if necessary, emergency room.

8 days later and still quite sore. Havent cycled yet but a stricking pain on the left/underneath of the knee cap. Still got a nice yellow bruise ... what Dr would be appropriate?

Either a physio, or an Orthopaedic surgeon. I'd go with the physio first, just because Orthopods generally want to put you under the knife for pretty much everything. May be a tear, may be a strain, may even be a snap. Best go to a sports Physio first.

Injury on knees (carpet burns) doesn’t count as a cycle injury..... Get back on bike immediately.. :whistling:

My OH hurt his knees really badly on the motorcycle. Went to the emergency room and they did x-rays etc only to tell him it was just bruising. Took months to come right though.

Thats exactly the time and expense i dont want to have. Also hurt my anckle last year and on the insistence of my better half went after two days also to get the nothings wrong or broken just a bruise. I will try a small ride this eve and decide. thanks
