Nothing scares a walker more than the unseen silent rider flying past them

 

As long as you are pedalling gently you can do that with pretty much any hub. Suddenly freewheeling with a Hope as you pass can be heart attack inducing - which is why I would never do that.

why would you want louder hubs?

Makes me think of the neighbour's son when we were kids. He wanted his fathers Combi to have a louder exhaust system. So he took a drill and drilled the silencer full of holes. His father was not happy to say the least.
