I have had a bike with hydraulic brakes hanging vertically with the front wheel on top for about a year now. The brakes don't work now. There is no resistance on the lever and the caliber pistols don't move at all. It's Hayes sole brakes. Any idea asvto how to fix?

My guess is that the various rubbes have turned into jelly. Hayes is fond of doing that. Remove the brake reservoir like and poke and inspect the rubbers on the lid. If they are squishy and soft and deformed, the rubbers inside have gone to rubber heaven too.

Buy a rebuild kit and start from scratch.

Thanks for the advice. Will have a look tonight.

It's the wife's bike which worked perfectly fine before it went into 'longterm storage'
