SRAM Cassette on Campy Wheel

New to the Campy thing but I have a set of Campy Vento's (the old 8 Speed Deep Section ones), will a SRAM PG-850 8 Speed Cassette fit on the freehub?

Why will it not work ? Does it have to do with hub design vs the cassette design ??

the cassette wouldnt fit onto the campy freehub. shimano and sram are compatible. rather get a campy cassette and run that with your shimano drive train.

is a free hub that thingy that sticks out the side of the hub on the rear wheel ?

I have a set of Campy Bora's and run a SRAM Red groupset inluding a SRAM cassette. Keep in mind that when I bought the wheels I had the choice of a Campy or Shimano free hub. I obviously put on the Shimano which is compatible with SRAM.
