IM70.3 SA 2013

Blindspot

Recommended Posts

Did a decent cycle on Saturday, but did not do my run on Sunday. I have a problem with my shoes and am waiting for a new pair to come up from CT.

My swimming is horrible too.

It looks like I am gonna suffer in EL!wacko.png

Thanks bro, subs closed on the 20th. I didnt take out the insurance on the entry but ive been told you can maybe get parcial refund in a case of serious injury. Losing the cash on a ticket/entry and the hours put in is a double blow. New rule - no MTB races before IM ...... oops.gif

Considering one of the challenge events in barcelona or maybe biting the bullet and going the whole hog in PE. what are your thoughts on the midmar race?

Hey just make sure as I think you can "transfer" your entry to next year for a admin fee or something... not sure...

Midmar race is awesome. Well organised, not too many competitors. Distances have been alligned to a full 70.3. Awesome race. If I didnt enter Abu Dhabi I would have gone back for sure in March

I too are gonna be in the hurt locker, come 20 Jan.

But I always knew I would, for I left the training and the idea to late.

My Idea was too just concentrate on the swimming (doing +/- 3Ks in the pool ) and bike (been doing +/- 100Ks over hilly terrain), then run walk, run the run leg (been doing +/- 10K runs, but im just not comfortable in the run ... lack of fitness).

But now I got another crazy idea .... Im thinking of enter Full IM.

With the family and work, im finding it increasingly difficult to get to train, so im thinking, if Im ever to enter and do a full IM. Nows the time and just do it and get it over with.

Im considering Midmar but Im not a big fan of doing 4 loops on a small course - how did the accommodation and extra work out in terms of costs? mhmmmmmm .... Abu Dhabi ..... mhmmmm

I am in the same boat. I am also considering entering IM PE, but I am worried about the extra training needed. I just do not know if I can increase my training by much more, between family time and running my own business and my wife training for the Comrades. Like I said earlier, I am happy with the training for the 70.3 given the time I had available (by no means am I on the same level as 2012). I am also thinking that my available time is probably not going to increase in years to come, so why not give IM a go. But I also do not want to enter being under prepared.

I know what you mean.

2012, I eat, lived, breathed 70.3. I was charged. :)

Anyway, let go out there and have some fun.

We stayed in tents next to the dam. Was lekker and very cheap. 4 loops is fine. Its not like you ride that course every second day!

I have done Midmar twice now and will not hesitate to go back!

WTF does that mean? Knee?

I was initially diagnosed with Pneumothorax, which is air escapes your lungs because of trauma and goes into your muscle, that healed (kinda) and then i tried to run (bad idea) and had massive pains. Went for xray and not broken bones, now the diagnosis is a buised heart (myocardial contusion). Its an injury mostly associated with car accidents, espcially when the driver catches the steering wheel in the chest ... fml

Heavy days JGR, that is plenty serious enough to cancel any race for. Fingers crossed it isnt anything like that

Good luck mate, hope the news is good

How about a 6 hour Argus. Stop for breaks etc? Even try and get into a tandem team and take it easy?
