Anyone going to this? It is an awesome event with Long Distance OW swimming (Mile and 3km), Biathlon, Duathlon and Triathlon being hosted. Great party afterwards as well!

The Triathlon is just too darn short to justify driving all that way. There is a massive dam, miles and miles of road and great running, they could be putting an iron distance or half ironman distance on there.

Completely agree - Its nearly 600km in total from CT and that like R700 petrol for me + entry + staying the night = way to far/much for a sprint distance race> Ive done it previously and its really fun - esp after.

Agreed. R300 entry, R700 petrol, R700 (minimum) for a place to stay. Pretty soon you're looking at R2000 just for a triathlon that's half Olympic distance.

sounds to me like you should save your money then and enter something closer to home or go enter the big tri athlons... not everyone wants to or can do an iron man or a half iron man... and its a great weekend of partying.

You can have a pretty good party for less than R2k in Cape Town. Hell you could buy new parts, pay for a return flight to the Ironman, pay your Ironmn entry and much more for that type of money. Slanghoek Tri is like a week or two after and is longer than olympic and much closer to Cape Town. I would rather do that. I think there are some races in CPT that weekend as well.
