G Hi Awesme, Unfortunately with the limited amount of stock arriving in South Africa we can't offer any discount on the Hero 3's. Here was an email that was sent out to our pre-order customers regarding the Hero 3 Black Edition: Afternoon,I trust this email finds you well,Just some feedback with regards to the Hero 3 Black Edition pre-orders. It was first initially announced by GoPro South Africa that stock would be arriving in South Africa early December and pending ICASA approval they would be available for retail by the 10th of December. We've just heard news that stock will only be arriving late December due to production issues in the US.We at Action Cameras SA sincerely apologize for this. We understand you highly anticipating the arrival of your new camera but please bear in mind the arrival of the South African stock is totally beyond our control. All good and well, I can see your problem, but in that case, late December via local shop or R200 more and order directly from external SA and it gets here faster/earlier... as only options. I'm all for supporting local ppl, but I for one know that my wife and family want to get my one for xMas,... they spoke to me to make sure they ordering the right thing. 8848 Posted November 28, 2012 Share Thanks, but a 45% premium ($300 overseas and R3 999 here) is a bit steep. 10% yes, 20% maybe, but 45% is a but hectic. there is no import duty on Camera / photographic gear will get a mate to bring it back with him in 2 weeks I reckon. I import product and so I understand the game, but in a modern world, you cannot sell stuff at a 45% premium just because SA is out of the way. ESPECIALLY when there is no import duties! If you're not paying the VAT, well it's a bit unfair to criticise the distributor based on a price that you can only get through illegal means.
