How's doing the race tomorrow at Germies 28 Oct 2012 ?

Any predictions as to whether or not it will be wetsuit legal ?

Any ideas as to water quality considering recent rains etc ?

doing the sprint event Seeker 911, pretty sure it will be wetsuit legal, I've done 2 of the BSG races in the last month and water temp was only up to 18 allowing us to use wetsuits at both. I live close to the lake and it has been cold and wet for a good few days so I doubt the water temp will be climbing. I drove past about a week ago and the lake is full but I did not get to the water to check quality

see you guys tomorrow, doing olympic dist.

i reckon it will be wetsuit legal, so much rain will have kept the temp down.

weather looks ok

race was good yesterday. must say MDW I prefer non-wetsuit. I get really claustrophobic in my wetsuit especially when I wear tri-suit under as well. feels like a bear is about to throttle me. no matter how many times i wear the damn thing its always the same. this true especially for sprints and olympic. for ultra + i dont wear tri suit so this becomes less of an issue for me.

I also hate wetsuite LOL, its an issue of flexibility and stretch possibly u need a new one, I am looking.

Had an ok race, was 18th overall 2nd age category, should have been 5min faster swim was not great, but 3rd podium in 5 weeks so happy recover time :-)

I need to add something perhaps I am wrong if so someone let me know. I'm a little stickler for rules. The reason for this is that as a novice to this sport I have been burnt a few times over the years because I was ignorant of a few rules. Now when you organize a race of this sort you clearly, or you should, state all the requirements for race including essential and compulsory kit. So at the olympic transition gate there's this kid who pitches and he has a black swim cap. The referee at the gate would not let the kid in and simply said no bright cap no enter. So yes I agree with this from a safety point of view BUT you need to make this clear. I had looked the day before and could find no such requirements had been published. So if you dont publish the rules and requirements you cannot on the day turn wannabees away. You as the organizer need to make it abundantly clear what is required. We did actually pay R400 to participate !

Anyway I was really peeved off and in the end gave the kid a spare orange speedo swim cap so he could partake.

I am still trying to figure out what Mayhem sports and Gavin Mayhem are doing with all the money that we pay for the race entry. To be honest, 3 pamphlets, a cap and some dodgy looking vitamins is a very poor excuse for a goodie bag. They should rather keep all that rubbish and hand out medals at the finish. It has been disappointing to watch over the years that as the price goes up to enter this event the goodie bag gets smaller. 3 years ago each entrant got a Under Armour Compression vest and some other really cool stuff to go along with that. This event is becoming a joke to be honest. I'm sure Gavin from Mayhem has nice big pockets, that are very deep, however he has very short arms. Something needs to be done.

Also, what is the idea behind giving red bull as a drink? i ended up not doing the event because of flu, but supported my wife. stood at the water station and almost veryone left full cans on the road? and then the far end water station ran out of water?

just my 2cents! would atleast expect proper aid station on the run!

Completely Agree! Coke would've been much better, or even the 32GI sachets they used to have. My brother and I did a 32km trail run earlier in the year and they were also offering red Bull at the tables. I was shocked when they ran out of water on the last watering table after 30Km and all they had left was Red Bull. Surely this can't be good for you?

Anyone have a comment about this?

im So glad the people are getting tired of these undermanaged events.....

I have been frustrated and so disappointed that I am not even entering these events anymore

If we pay for the Race...(and its not Cheap) we expect proper basic services....Certainly Cant Pay R400 and still complain about lack of basic knowledge- Reffering to water at the tables-

And I have never even heard of someone at a triathlon event in need of Red Bull?!?!? Come on....
