SRAM 10 speed Powerlock on Campy 11 speed chain

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anybody here is running their 11 speed chains with the SRAM 10 speed PowerLock?

I have read up on the net and spoke to a bike tech at one of the shops and they say it works without issues. The other option is the KMC 11 speed Missinglink but other than importing it myself not sure where i am going to get that.

The issues with the 11 speed chains is the tolerances when installing using a normal pin and if not done right they break, which makes removing the chain for a proper clean a real hassle.

Cheers

Howzit

Running this on my girlfriends Campy 11speed with no issues. There is also a KMC 11 speed specific link if you really want, i have used it as well and to be honest i notice no performance difference between the two. KMC is significantly more expensive though so don't buy the marketing crap that you have to use it. Only problem is neither KMC nor SRAM are removable, so you have to break the link and replace it.

Honestly I can't remember, I think it may have been a CRC order where i was trying to make up to the free delivery threshold because I can't recall seeing the product in a local store.

Ah ok cool no worries, ill give the SRAM one a try

I run Sram powerlink, i remove it and use it again, I replace the link maybe every 6 months. however this is just on my race bike which doesnt see the road too much.

Cool i have read most guys use it twice with no issues but at the cost one per month is not too bad. That is how often i completely remove my chain for a deep clean

Also using the 10sp power lock. Done about 30 000km with this setup.

11sp chainlinks available from CRC but they are expensive and I saw no real difference.

I use a regular chain breaker to break the chain.....its about 9 years old I think......

Do you guys use a regular chain breaker to break the 11 speed chain?

You can break it with a normal breaker but you need a special one to install the 11 speed pin properly, its a finicky story and if not done right the chain is almost guaranteed to break at that spot.ITs easier and more reliable to use a Power/Missing link
