Helmet Care and Refurbishment

HI guys,

 

Has a few questions on helmet care and Refurbishment.

 

I recently picked up a Bell Sweep R on the hub. Was wondering the manner in which to get the sweaty smell out of it. I know you can take the foam inserts out and wash them or replace but what about the rest of the helmet?

As far as Changing the colour scheme of your helmet, Can this be done? If so how? Any suggestions would be great.

Take it into the shower with you. Wash the inside with your favorite soap. Do this after every ride and you will never have a stinky helmut.

Oh, remember to wash the straps as well. They are usually soaked with sweat!

Yes - but I don't know where to get the paint from in SA - and you have to be super careful, because most paints with solvents will destroy or damage the polystyrene that makes up most of the helmet and saves your head if you crash.

 

And you can't import the paint in small quantities because it's classified as a hazardous material, so can't be shipped airfreight - even though its pretty safe in normal curcumstances.

 

Better to leave it well alone once it is clean.

Rather get hold of vinyl that is used to wrap cars and use that to change the colour of it..

You can take all the straps off, chuck that in the washing machine
