I went out this morning going slowly up Polka hoping to get you guys, but you only got to Polka later...Chris snr got me going down second Polka and told me you guys are still coming. Just a bit too late for me, I will definately join you guys next week Wednesday and Thursday when I'm on leave.

I was the Nedbank kitted rider returning to Kuilsriver when the group passed me this morning...

great ride with the team this morning !

however I'd like to make a few comments:

  • The riding is getting pretty dangerous, there are a couple of guys in the group who are going to cause an accident, it is only a matter of time, not able to hold a line, sudden braking and swerving...
  • Many times the group was riding two abreast across traffic lanes and often outside of the yellow line. At one point on bottelarey rd the youngster in the group was buzzed by a car that could not have been more than two inches from his elbow...close stuff!
  • The group rode like absolute tossers when we got onto old oak intersection and if I was in a car I'd have been well annoyed with bikes weaving in and out of the traffic trying to turn into old oak instead of staying to the outside of the right turning lane as we should.

I think we've got to up the game guys. It may not be a bad idea to split the group too as it was pretty big?

To the poor bugger who toasted his rear dérailleur and his wheel - bummer dude huh.png

I have to agree, we have to adhere to traffic rules ... we are the example out there!

Unfortunately every group contains someone that is still learning to ride in bunches ... teach them, help them and show them the way!

Perhaps we should skip that last section through Brackenfell and carry straight down Botttelary and turn right into La Belle.

That would make the Old Oak intersection much easier.

Yeah, Tank'...

There is peak traffic flow and little shoulder on Old Oak.

I agree it's important to teach the inexperienced ones.

What could help with this is a brief intro to bunch riding etiquette by the convener.

Great initiative.

Hi Tankman,

sure I reckon we should give the guys a bit of a help, always worried that it comes across as "I know it all" attitude wacko.png

As for heading straight down to La Belle, I think that might be a better option as it will make the old Oak junction much easier to navigate. earlier i nteh ride there is less traffic but old oak is a busy beast huh.png
