Richard whats the status on the 30km loop? and do you have an ETA?

it will be in the next couple of months, with bits being added at a time. We have about 4km that we should add in soon and then another 4km and then finally a 7km section on the other side of Driefontien road. The biggest hold back is maintenance of the new sections as the trails are hard to keep back during the summer months and it is difficult to add trail in summer.

Hi

Seems I left my Rydon sunnies at the pool at the trail head.If anyone sees them please give me a shout

Thanks

Hi, met you and the family there on Xmas day, sorry, didn't notice anything when we all left together.

Rode the blue route and honestly found it a bit Mickey Mouse. The single track is a very tight, possibly because of lack of space, it didn't seem to flow very well. I counted that we rode up and down the one hillside four times. And the turns at the bottom are tight so you don't carry your speed much. I felt like a hamster on a wheel. My mate riding with me felt the same. It opens out a bit at the end and gets better, but not really that great yet. I hope it gets better. Berms needed and much more speed.....

Your problem is that there are too many bike parks nearby which are similar, plus places like Modderfontein. Plus the spruit. And N Farms has got some a good 35 Kms of riding on it now.

My 2 cents worth. not my sort of riding. we are so deprived of trails in Gauteng. I really was hoping for something like the old Teak Place, which was great.

I rode the 12hr Enduro, the course has change a bit and yes it starts slow and gets better towards the end. I've seen the new sections they've added and i do believe it will get better over time.

I don't like the idea of berms everywhere, where it helps & makes a section ridable i'm all for that. It's very seldomly you get to hit a XC course and have berms in every corner, i'd rather ride more natural ground.

The beginning does lack a bit of flow with it being off camber corners, i try see the positives which is teaching me to ride thru a corner better and accelerating which keeps me on my toes.

Thanks for giving us another venue to ride Richard Beswick ;)

There's an awareness ride on Sat from Key West in Krugersdorp, not sure if you guys aware of it? Also finishes at Avianto whistling.gif

Hi guys and gals, the ride is continuing on Saturday. We will meet at the Park next to Key West at 8h00 corner Viljoen and Begin Street. Parking inside the park and enter at Begin Street. We will then have an awareness talk with authorities. There will be a 13km loop to accommodate younger and slower riders. We then proceed on a longer 30km ride to Cradle Area and end at Avianto. From there you can get a lift back or ride back.

A request from authorities is that those who want to ride back should use the Sterkfontein Road and not the N14...We will have full traffic vehicle escorting all the way.

We have just started our second black section with a nice flowing descent for all those free riders that don't like to work to hard on the bike. It does have a technical climb to get there but the descent will be worth it. it will add about 1km to the course, and hopefully be completed by the weekend.

Remember from this weekend you will need an official Avianto trails board to ride on the trails. R30 + R20 board deposit(you get it back when we get your board back). The money goes into development and maintenance of the trails.

Thanks to Rich and the team. Did the blue ride 4 times this holiday and it was great. Can not wait for the club house to open so that I can bring the kids . Please add more trail next to the river after the tunnel. Will see you soon

The plan is to add more trail there as i know it is the best bit, unfortunately the best bit are always to short. We plan to have an over under bridge in that part with a double back so we can maximise river riding. it's in the pipeline so hopefully in the next 2 months.

Wife and kids had a picnic next to the river while i did the blue route. 13.7km, climbed 256m, took around 40min at an easy pace. Wife did the green route after i got back. Great trails. Two laps will give you a good workout. Did the black piece. NICE.
