Hi, thought you guy's might like to see the new design of the Concept 50mm Clincher wheelset. Received my set on Thursday and as you can see it looks absolutely stunning on my bike. Not going to get carried away by the technical ability of the wheels......... only because I do not know enough! What I will say is they feel great while riding and I seem to be going faster and riding easier!

Photo's do not do these wheels any justice, the quality and the look in real life is breathtaking!

Leonard's service (CCD) is without question !!!!!!

I am one very happy customer and the envy of all my friends!post-41410-0-69265800-1374902014_thumb.jpg

certainly a very good review on wheels, I'm in the market for new wheels and will certainly consider them, how do they compare to the Darkhorse been advertised on thehub

I'm also watching the market for alternatives.

Nice review, man.

Nice wheels Wibbers. Are those the new wider rims?

Your saddle setup looks completely wrong

Hi LOOK695, yes they are the new wider rims! Saddle setup is for the Adamo style saddle that is specific for riding on the nose section of the saddle utilizing your sit bones! I had to go that route due to medical reasons! Looks odd, but is very comfortable once you get used to it - and more importantly it keeps me riding!

I bought a set of the Darkhorse 50mm clinchers (super? light version) and so far they have been great! Very light and and very stiff - accelerate really fast. Did the Jock on them and hit a rather nasty pothole on stage 1 - wheels are still good as new.

I'm considering a set of darkhorse carbon clinchers std wheels (1450g) at the moment. I am just keen to see where these edge wheels slot in

Some awesome reviews  I've also been toying with the idea of upgrading my rims, and this conversation has definitely helped. This seems like an excellent place to start

I am in Kempton Park quite often and will be more than willing to bring a set with for you to have a look at.

Cheers

Hi Jaco

Let's start with the important things.

Price: R7600 a set. This includes a set of quick release skewers, rim tape, and the carbon brake pads for the wheels.

Weight: 1560g for the pair.

Yes, there is lighter weight options out theere. With this design we utilize a 25mm wide rim with a tudorial aero shape.

These are not just a normal V shaped rim which was made wider like some others out there. I am attaching a section view of the rim to show the design.

Secondly I had to make a choice between weight and supplying a reputable and reliable product not sacrificing on quality. Yes, I can supply lighter wheel sets with a standard 20mm wide rim.

I utilize a hub a spoke combination in the wheels which I know is reliable and provides hassle free riding.

Also with utilizing the new design we had to obviously use a bit more carbon to obtain the desired width and shape, thus also adding slightly to the weight in the wheels.

Compare them with Zipp 303 firecrest clinchers and there is only a 55g difference on the wheel set.

The rims are virtually the same weight at 500g a rim. This means your outer rotating mass is the same.

I am in the process of updating my website with the details on the new design as well.

Feel free to pm me or leave a reply here is there is any further info you guys need.

Those new wheels look really good!

What's the difference between them and the previous version?

My reply to Jaco Fiets pretty much shows the new design.

The previous one was a 20mm wide rim with a bit less of a turorial shape and more towards a standard deep section.

CCD \Leonard let me test ride the demo 50mm clinchers last week. I was surprised how these wheels climb. I read somewhere that 50mm isn't that good with climbing but these climb better than my current set of wheels. They accerelate good\fast on the hills and flats well.Really like the wheels.

Thanks
