dev null Posted July 18, 2013 Share So, who would have thought a sprinter would love climbing. Sagan quoted here after today: “At the intermediate sprint, I saw André Greipel accelerate to overtake me. I do not know if he still has a mathematical chance to win the points classification, but in any case, I prefer to stay focused on my goal every step of the way – and that is to win the green jersey in Paris. Each intermediate sprint can be important. You never know what can happen. Then I discovered the Alpe d'Huez and I went well. I loved it! There were a lot of people.”
'Dale Posted July 18, 2013 Share “When I was about eight years old, I saw on the TV a victory of a cyclist at Alpe d'Huez and I hoped that one day maybe I could do it too. Today, when I saw at the start of the climb that van Garderen attacked me I knew I couldn't follow him and I told myself, ‘S---, I finish second like two days ago...' After, at three kilometres from the finish, I saw him and he didn't look good so I started to believe in my good stars. And I sprinted and the public supported me and I'm in the sky!” Riblon Stretch
'Dale Posted July 18, 2013 Share “I've never been as happy as I am today: I've gone from sixth to third overall, I've taken one minute out of Froome's lead... I didn't realise that he had some problems but my timing was ideal. I had a bit of luck. Tomorrow and the next day are very hard stages so have to recover quickly and get ready for the challenges that lie ahead... but I accept that winning this Tour is no longer an obtainable objective – the gap to Froome is too big.” Quintana

'Dale Posted July 18, 2013 Share I'm not sure about the technicality of the time penalty – if Richie is going to get it or if I'm going to get the penalty – but it's understandable. I really felt that I needed those sugars in the final, so if it comes with a 20 second penalty, then I have to accept... scotty Posted July 18, 2013 Share Contador is having a cracking cracking up race. So much for claims he will get better as the TDF unfolds, he's losing time instead.
Christie Posted July 18, 2013 Share 20 sec + 200 franks penalty for Froome & Porte, 1000 franks fine for team director for feeding in the last 6km. I dont like their excuses, they should just man up. Edited July 18, 2013 by Christie
dev null Posted July 18, 2013 Share So while I am watching the 1st climb up the Alpe d'Heuz, my son comes in nagging me to take him to the cycle shop to buy his bike. He is amped, couldn't care less about his old man watching the tour. He wants to do the Spur series next year. So I had the watch the last part of the climb in the cycle shop.
